Thumbelina Repair

Hello! My name is Linda and I am affiliated with "Shelley\\\'s Dolls" and I would love to bring your vintage Thumbelina doll back to life!

I became interested in doing this for others, like you, when I fixed my own childhood 14 inch Tiny Thumby. I was so delighted in doing so that I found a 19 inch on Ebay and fixed her too.  There are some stipulations as to what I can fix.  I am still investigating the possibilities of fixing the wigglers but have not had success in doing so yet.  I’ll let you know as soon as I do.  What I can fix are the dolls that wind and their heads move.  The mechanisms I use fit 14, 16, 19 and 21 inch dolls and also have a music box built into the mechanism that can play or not play.  This will be your choice.  Personally I prefer to hear the lullaby.  The later dolls that are criers and wigglers can be converted to where their heads will move.  I can replace the crier if you would like.  Your vintage Thumby’s cloth body may need some special attention.  I can sew seams that may be loose but the holes and rips will have to be patched.  I love to patch these holes with cute decorative patches such as hearts and flowers.  Also, if there are badly stained areas to the cloth body I can cover these with patches too.  I will clean her vinyl parts with special cleaner and will try to remove any existing stains.  She will have all new stuffing inside her.  The original stuffing is disintegrated foam rubber.  I will wash and style her hair to get rid of those Thumby frizzies.  Your baby will look as good as new when she comes home to you!!!  If you decide that your new baby needs new clothes I keep darling little outfits in stock in all sizes.  I buy from an excellent seamstress that has made several outfits for my babies.  My stock will vary so it’s best that you email me and I can give you an update of what I have.  Prices, colors and styles will vary but I’ll dress your baby cuter than her vintage clothes.  Time of repair may vary according to what repair your doll will require.  Allow a 4 to 6 weeks and a minimum of 2 weeks.   Linda

Repair also includes: a new mechanism, body cleaning, new stuffing, washing the hair and styling.

Rerooting can be also completed, price will vary according to number of hair plugs that need replaced.  If you need more information please email me at:

Tiny Thumbelina doll for sale- 14 inch

I have for you a Tiny 14 inch Thumbelina doll that is not mint but in great condition. Thumby has her original blonde hair although her bangs have thinned a little from age and being played with. No missing plugs are visible. Her vinyl is still very pink and has no bite marks. She does have a couple of light rub marks next to her nose but as you can see in her picture they are impossible to see. She also has a very light blue discoloration about ¼ inch in diameter on the inside of her left arm. She has all her fingers and toes. She did have what looked like a slight split in her little finger on her right hand so I filled this in with a little glue and it’s fine now. This is barely noticeable. The bottom part of one of her toes on her left foot looks to have been pinched but you cannot tell this from looking at the top of her foot. None of these defects I’ve mentioned are very significant and definitely don’t take away from her appearance. But, I wanted to be honest and mention them.

Thumby has been cleaned from head to toe with a professional cleaner and has been nicely restuffed. She has her original blush on her cheeks and paint on her mouth. Her eyebrows, eyelashes, and blue eyes are all original and no missing paint. Her cloth body is in as good condition as her vinyl parts except for a very light stain just above her right leg. Please see pictures. She has no rips or resewn areas. She has a replaces mechanism that plays Brahms Lullaby and head rotates perfectly. Thumby is wearing a pink and white gingham dress, bloomers, and bonnet. Her little legs look so cute in this short little dress. The bodice has white eyelet trim and an embroidered rosebud appliqué. White eyelet lace trim the dress hem. The bonnet also has a white eyelet lace brim accented with white satin ribbon ties and crown bow. She will make someone the perfect doll for a collection or a gift!  Price:  $150.00.
